feedback post about the class (what did you learn? what was boring? how can we improve this course?)

feedback post about the class (what did you learn? what was boring? how can we improve this course?)

In the class, i learned a lot practical things, eg Photoshop, take pictures, take video, final cut, export video to youtube. Besides, i think more about how to form the information in a better way to communicate with audience. "Look and feel" is alway at the first place....

I think the lab time should be longer. We just had enough time to take pictures or video but no time for editing in class. I think if we can edit or practice the program in class, we can learn much more.

I hate the quizzes. 15 mins long for finishing a quiz is not enough. Make me rush read the questions and make me misunderstand the questions then i wrote down the wrong answer. However, i found out that i knew the answer. I think it is good if you change the quiz time to at the end of last 15 mins, so when people finish in 15 mins then they can leave.

I like the section that other class teachers showed their student 's work in the lecture. Inspire me:))))

4 months Media 150 done:))

How could do that?!

When you ask me what  film opening is the most impressing, the series of Spiderman comes to my mind especially the Spider man 2 opening.  As we all know, the Spiderman film series is based on the fictionalMarvel Comics character Spider-Man. This is so cool when the creators combine comics and film in the opening. This opening uses the comics illustrations to tell the preview of Spiderman 1 in the short three mins time which is amazing. Besides, this opening using red color theme ,which makes people feel horror and the background music does a lot for creating this horror feeling. Additionally, the web image increases visual enjoyability. The moving line perfectly separates one scene  from another scene. This three mins opening is good for me to remind me of the story. Therefore i don't confuse the storyline.specially, the story is focused on the love of a girl and Spiderman's family and his duty.Spiderman is forever my favorite American movie.

When i search on Youtube, i find out that all the openings have a common feature---Typography.

The creators use a high percentage of playing text. Besides, music plays an important role. Making a film is not easy when every single element is big enough to affect people's visual enjoyment. It is so amazing when it does not use speech but only uses the music and the figure to tell you the theme. By watching the figures running or chasing, I can image the storyline when i also combine it with the its title "Catch me if you can"

Also watch this Food inc. opening and the poster

See this poster, this so makes sense when the documentary is about the systematic food industry. How horrible  the "man made" food that goes around us now.

Mr. Popcorn's Tragedy

After this project, i feel like i would enjoy being a actress more than being a editor. I kept stuck in the final cut. Although doing a tiny thing, its costed me couple hours:))
I think the idea using pop corn is from Kimberly. Then I said we could make a advertising for pop corn. Then they agreed but my whole idea was changed. Milip and Kimberly thought using 2 people that were watching a video then they saw a pop corn adv then 2 people wanted to eat popcorn and went to buy.
Haha...i think this video more like a documentary that narrate a story of buying popcorn than Mr Popcorn's tragedy. Because most of the time of the video was focusing on the people. Although the sound effect, like Mr popcorn's scream make popcorn alive, it was still hard to understand why he screamed.
We had some different ideas of cutting the shot. One thought that this time should be kept but other didnt think so. Luckily, this was not really a big argument. We just said out our ideas then we came across by finding the middle point:))))))))
It is difficult to work in a group. It is hard to group all people. Sometime working apart is necessary...

VIDEO

JUST FOR FUN

Design is everywhere

I think that a traditional 2D billboard doesn’t capture the audience anymore when the billboards can be found at almost every corner of the city. See the example of Times Square: Even the 2D billboards combine with all the light and moving typography dont attract the audience because it is too much. However, I think the 3D billboard is the most attractive when it expands the idea to the environment (outside the billboard) and it fully utilizes the space and the billboard and environment also make sense with each other. Below are the ads that impress me.

Ads are always about telling information, attracting attention and bing memorable. I think it is attractive to be a distraction for men and women on the road when they see this billboard for Wonderbra. This billboard promotes how their new bra makes women’s breast appear two sizes bigger than they are. Besides, the funny thing is the man is curious just like all the audience like us when we see this billboard. Can the bra really  do this? Two sizes bigger? Amazing, huh?!
Here is an advertisement by Heinz. Basically what they are trping to say is that breakfast is tasteless without ketchup, not quite true but it does help a little. This ad is using color concept to grab the audience’s attention. Most of us think that the main object has to big enough and has to be put in the center to get audience’s attention, this ad is totally oppositive from the concepts.
